Following in his father’s footsteps, Lance became immersed in the construction industry at a young age. He spent after school hours, weekends and summers learning the trade and started his own company, Foster Construction, when he was 23. As if it were yesterday, he remembers his first project, which was an eight story Comfort Inn in Alexandria, VA.
In 1998 he started Construction System, Inc. after taking a year off to build his home. As Owner and CEO of CSI, Lance executed all aspects of the business including estimating, bidding, contract administration, scheduling, on-site project management, supervision, and accounting. Based on a foundation of teamwork and long-standing client, employee and vendor relationships, he built a successful company, which averaged six million dollars of work annually and at peak employed over 100 people. CSI’s reputation for high quality work and the ability to finish ahead of schedule became well known in the Northern Virginia, Maryland and DC areas.
Although his primary focus was new commercial construction projects, which included hotels, office buildings, schools, churches, restaurants, shopping centers, medical facilities, etc., Lance also has vast experience in renovations, tenant build-out and residential construction. With over 43 years of experience, his areas of expertise include interior and exterior commercial structural metal framing, carpentry and finish packages. He currently holds a Class A Contractors license, is certified in Exterior Finish Systems and is recognized as a historical preservation contractor.
Lance and his wife have been married for 29 years and reside in Warrenton, VA. They have three grown children and three grandchildren. He enjoys spending time at their lake house on Smith Mountain Lake and riding his Harley.
